The Apple

Inspired by his studies in philosophy Latzke employed himself as a student with the mathematically-physical phenomena of the infinite loop which also inspired other artists and musicians in their works.

Pictures from the Province

The “Pictures from the Province,” emerged when Latzke briefly worked as an art teacher in his hometown and painted these pictures out of boredom in class, while students were working on their assignments. Originally he intended to make it as a tribute to his hometown and sell it as a small series in a local gallery.  Unfortunately, the whole thing was a failure.  The inhabitants of Euskirchen, ten years before Jurassic Park, were unfamiliar with the strange beings that Latzke populated their city with, and were not pleased by the title Latzke gave the series, which implied that they were “provincial”.

Travel Sketches

Instead of using a camera Latzke captured while travelling landscapes, situations and ideas with pens and brushes.

 Chess

A decade before the movie Jurassic Park  again popularized the dinosaurs, Latzkemodeled  this ceramic chess with dinosaur figures and a three-dimensional playing surface in the form of a prehistoric landscape.
